Car Payment Calculator
Estimate a monthly auto-loan payment from vehicle price, down payment, trade-in, term, and APR.
Includes an optional full amortization schedule so you can see principal vs. interest over the life of the loan.
How to enter the loan
Tax on the purchase price is estimated and added to the amount financed. Leave as 0% if you'll pay tax separately. Taxes vary and are estimates.

Decision guidance
- Common terms: 24–84 months. Shorter terms → higher payment but far less total interest; longer terms → lower payment, more interest.
- Higher down payment lowers principal and payment, and often unlocks a better rate. Industry baseline recommends at least ~10% down when possible.
- On a high principal, a small APR change moves the payment meaningfully — compare a 60- vs 72-month basket.
- Higher credit scores generally yield lower APRs; the rate here is whatever you input.
Worked reference: a $40,000 loan at 5% APR, 60 months → monthly payment ≈ $754.85; total of 60 payments ≈ $45,290.96.
