📶 Internet Speed Checker
Measures download, upload, latency, jitter and packet loss — then tells you in plain English what that speed is good for, against FCC household guidance.
Run the test
A speed test measures your whole path (device → Wi-Fi → router → ISP → upstream), not your ISP alone. Close other apps/devices and prefer a wired connection.
Wi-Fi often understates your plan's capability.
Ready.
Warn before judging: server choice, TCP streams, and congestion all change the number. Run at least 3 times — one sample is noisy. If idle→loaded latency gap approaches ~100 ms on wired, your ISP is likely oversubscribed. This test is not proof of your ISP's service level.
What do the numbers mean? Download = data pulled to your device. Upload = data you send. Latency/ping = reaction time. Jitter = ping variability. Packet loss = how many packets never arrive. Note: 8 Mbps ≈ 1 MB/s.
